The position:
The ideal candidate must have a proven track record in online media sales and significant agency contacts. Gather is seeking an energetic self-starter who is pro-active in driving revenue and increasing our client base. Candidate must be results-driven and be committed to creating new business opportunities.
This media sales professional will be dedicated to selling Gather.com media solutions through media agencies and direct to clients. By joining Gather, you will have the opportunity to be an integral part of a fast growing organization with significant opportunity for advancement.
Candidates must have a deep understanding of the Midwest advertiser market with a strong client and agency Rolodex.
Responsibilities:
• Proactively prospect, qualify, grow, and maintain an account list of advertisers
• Strategize with clients to demonstrate how Gather can meet their marketing objectives through social media, marketing solutions and straight media buys
• Develop and cultivate deep relationships at all levels from brand managers and account executives to media buyers
• Identify and understand trends within client markets and industries • Hit target bookings and revenue quotas
• Pitch new business to advertising agencies and direct clients
• Work internally, across departments, to create compelling media solutions for advertisers
• Partner with sales marketing manager to update sales presentations and create proposals
• Identify, position and frame social networking and social media solutions or straight CPM buys within the context of client marketing/business needs
Experience:
• 5+ years media sales experience
• Must have experience in online advertising sales and media buying
• Proven track record of success driving revenue through the development of strategic relationships
• Track record of structuring and managing complex negotiations to successful closure and delivery (at a 6-figure level)
• Strong understanding of demographic and psychographic targeting and brand positioning
Requirements:
• Position is based in Chicago; periodic travel required within Midwest region
• Strong written communication skills and experience with Microsoft Word and PowerPoint. Be able to articulate client marketing needs and market demand succinctly and effectively
• Must be a good communicator and skilled at developing relationships through sales outreach
• Skilled at prioritizing and managing time effectively
• Have a strong work ethic and be able to work remotely
• A positive attitude and professional demeanor is essential along with the flexibility to work in a rapidly changing environment
• Able to thrive in a fast-paced startup environment and remain calm under pressure
• BA/BS or equivalent
